My Favorite Accessories

You know when you find a shirt and a purse that match really well, but you had no idea until you went to wear them both? That is the joyous feeling I had when I put this outfit together.  The outfit was made complete with my favorite accessories, which I am going to share with you today and how I chose which ones to put together to make the outfit a success!

This shirt is from Golden Lemon Boutique and I love how popular the peplum look is right now.  I used to wear all my clothes to be form fitting, but I'm really enjoying the looser fit of the peplum.  The colors are two of my favorite and it went perfectly with my hat as well.  Golden Lemon is having a sale this weekend for 20% off your entire order when you use code "MD2016".

I'm also giving away this shirt on my Instagram here.  They also have a teal version of this shirt that you could choose if you'd rather have that color.

After I chose my shirt, I then chose an accessory that I wanted to help show off the shirt.  For this outfit I decided to wear my favorite maroon hat from Coco & Main.  It is a great deal for such an awesome hat and they are also having a sale this weekend for 20% off! I have yet to find a floppy hat for such a great deal that I love as much as this one.  I highly recommend it.  You can also see this hat styled in this post here.

My go to jewelry for any outfit are my Alex & Ani bracelets. They are my favorite!  They are cute and versatile to match basically any outfit.  I also love that I get to show off the important things in my life by the charms.  I have the teacher apple, Disneyland, Utah Utes, Mickey and Pluto, and Daughter charm bracelets.  Let me know which ones you have or want in the comments below!

The last accessory is my purse from Ana Nova Australia.  They are a brand from Australia that is moving over to the United States.  They sell clutches, purses, and handbags.  This one I have is called the All For The Love handbag.  I try to have a variety of colored purses that are also neutral to help me match to many different outfits.  This purse is also really good quality and held its shape really well.

Special thanks to my amazing photographer Charissa of Charissa Lee Photography who took these amazing pictures.  She is fabulous for lifestyle, family, and wedding (which her wedding pictures are adorable).  Make sure to check out her website and give her a follow on Instagram here.

I'd love to hear your favorite accessories and if you have any tips for choosing the right accessories! Let me know in the comments below!

Joining the Leggings Bandwagon + Little J Headband Review

So let me start off by saying, I use to never wear leggings.  I didn't understand the point of them really.  A few months ago I had been eyeing some running leggings from Albion Fit, but never fully committed to buying a pair because I felt they were pricey for me being iffy on if I even wanted to venture into the world of leggings.  I ended up winning them in a giveaway and when I put them on I fell in love.  I definitely wore them almost everyday the first week I got them.  Home from work, put on leggings, go play tennis, keep on leggings, go to bed, well sure I'll just stay in my leggings! Here is the link to the leggings from Albion Fit.  I don't have a picture (yet), but I'll be doing another post of those another time!

About a month after I won the leggings I was approached by a company called No Nonsense. They asked if I would like to review a few of their products and share with my followers.  I had never heard of them, but when I saw they sold a variety of leggings I became excited.

They sent me a 2 pair of leggings and a pair of tights.  The first pair of leggings were navy blue with light blue polka dots.  If you've been following along with my blog you know polka dots are my favorite! I put on a peach tunic from Kiss Me Mint (which also has pockets...woot woot) to compliment the navy blue bottoms and it worked great.  The leggings were very comfortable, but I wish these ones were a longer in length.  It will be awesome for the summer days, but personal preference is to have my leggings/pants longer rather than shorter.  This is where the brown leggings were wonderful.  They were long enough and comfortable.  I was wearing a size Small, but would recommend sizing down because they seemed a little big for me.  Luckily I wore a white lace tunic from Journey Five and just pulled the leggings up and no one would have even noticed.

For my second styling of leggings I added a white tunic and a blue headband from Little J Headbands for a pop of color.  I love these headbands because you can easily pop them over your hair for an easy way to add color and style to your straight hairstyle.  You can also weave your hair through the different strands of the headband to create unique stylings every time you wear it.  I have also worn the headband when my hair is in a bun and it really helped to add a cute touch to a boring hairstyle.

One of my favorite things about the Little J Headband is how well it holds your hair in place, especially during the windy days.  I wanted to do a photoshoot with this white headband and when I met up with my photographer the wind was insane.  I seriously have not seen the wind that crazy in a long time.  We decided to brave the wind and it ended up working out because now I can show you how well this headband helped my hair with the wind.  As soon as I put it over my hair it helped to keep my hair from going everywhere, while still being stylish.

You can use code "teachshoplove10" for 10% off your order at Little J Headbands

The leggings were both so comfortable and I can't believe I ever thought of not owning a pair of leggings.  The headbands were such a fun touch of color and great for keeping my hair out of my face.  Is there an item of clothing that you've never tried that is super popular right now?  I'd love to hear in the comments below!

My Travel Packing Essentials

Summer is almost here (9 more days of school left, but who is counting!) and that means three things for me: no school, warm weather, and VACATIONS! I love going on trips and since it is hard for me to take time off during the school year, our vacations are done during the summer.  This year we have a few coming up and I can't wait to blog all about those, but until I do I am going to share my top 5 items that I always take with me when I travel.

I teamed up with HomeAway to share my tips for packing, but they've got some great summer vacation ideas as well! They are a company that helps to rent out homes for your vacation that will help get you more space and privacy compared to a hotel, and the homes are simply gorgeous!

My Checklist:

1. Camera - I love capturing everything I do on camera, especially since I recently started blogging.  A camera is a must on a vacation.  I have a canon that Kyle got me for my birthday, but sometimes I even just enjoy taking pictures with my phone so I can quickly upload to social media.

2. Portable Phone Charger - This is one of my favorite items to bring on a vacation and I encourage everyone to get one.  I love having a portable phone charger for when my phone starts to die, especially when I don't have time to go back to the hotel to charge it.

3. DVD's & a Laptop - I love having a laptop and my favorite DVD's while I'm on vacation.  It is perfect for when I'm back at the hotel at the end of day and there is nothing on tv.  I hook up my laptop to the tv and can watch my own movies on a bigger screen than my laptop.

4. Cute Backpack - I love bringing a backpack on vacation with me to help carry snacks, wallet, phone charger, camera, etc.  It is a lot easier for me to use a backpack than a purse, especially when I'm at Disneyland (my favorite place)!

5. Swimsuit - There is always time to go swimming at the beach or hotel!  You can check out a few posts I did on my favorite modest swimwear here and here.

I'd love to hear what your essential items are for when you go on vacation.  Let me know in the comments below!

Black and White and Polka Dotted

Polka dots have always been one of my favorite patterns.  When I was trying to decide on the theme for my kindergarten classroom I knew I had to incorporate polka dots.  Which, speaking of my classroom, I can't wait to finally post my classroom reveal this summer!  So when I saw this amazing skirt from Tara Lynn's Boutique I was really giddy.  Those big polka dots called my name and the way this skirt lets you twirl is absolutely to die for! If polka dots aren't your thing though, this amazing skirt has many other colors and patterns to choose from.

Let me give you a few tips for purchasing this skirt.  I am almost always a size small, but this skirt is sized based on your height, so I went with a medium and it was perfect.  The waist band is 2 inches thick and is elastic, so it fits everyone.  Since I am 5'3'' I could've gone with either size, but decided on the medium because I figured I'd wear heels and if needed could wear it higher on my hips.

We took these amazing pictures at City Creek in downtown Salt Lake City.  I've always loved going to City Creek and the water fountains are gorgeous, which made the pictures even more perfect.  My photographer was the amazing Ali from Sweet Cactus Photography.  I went to High School with Ali and so it was fun to meet up with her and catch up.  She is also super talented as you can see.  You can check out her website here.

I wore this skirt to church last Sunday and I received so many compliments with people wondering where they could get one for themselves.  Remember to use code "kellis" for 15% off and free shipping from your order at Tara Lynn's Boutique. They have so many fun items.  I've posted a few different ones on my Instagram and I will be doing more blog posts with outfits from this cute boutique soon.  I always have a weakness for shopping, but especially when there is a discount! Anyone else feel the same way?  If so, happy shopping!
